Finally Finished Sweater
November 10, 2009 at 12:38 am | Posted in Knitting | 2 CommentsTags: 1st book, jumpers, mittens, Moving home, patterns, Re-knit
OK so a few months ago i started a new sweater with pure new wool and casted on, did the ribbing and knitted about 4 inches and stopped for while. I suddenly remembered the sweater and decided to pick it up again and carry on knitting. I wasn’t using a pattern which was nice and relaxing figuring out all the shaping as i gradually went along. So last Wednesday and Thursday i did another six inches of stockinette st. On Friday i did the colour work. and on Saturday i grafted on the sleeves and started the last part of my sweater the yoke and collar area but with misguided calculations I’d done it wrong i had managed to do a good six inches at work and then figured i had to rip it out and start the shaping for the shoulders again. i was more than unpleased but i have to say quickest jumper I’ve do so far, so to carry on with my own personal achievement i carried on with it the Sunday at knitting group and today at 1pm the afternoon i had finished. I almost except 4 inches made an entire sweater in 5 days, I’m pretty proud and it now fits perfectly i have to say I’m in love with my new sweater. Heres a photo of my sweater.
I also finished my first mitten pattern for my new book And i may as well show you a photo since I’ve posted it on Ravelry in my projects. I’m thinking of put it up soon as another lil taster but we shall have to see. But here it is
They are so pretty and warm i still need another ball of yarn though to finish but it is beautiful.
Me and my partner also had some annoying news on Sunday after i’d had such a good day at my knitting group as well. We found out from our landlord he’s selling the house
he has gave us 2 weeks to move out we had to bargain with him for 4 weeks which we thankfully now have. It’s made me panic i have to admit, But we are going to look at 3 houses we have taken a fancy too. And the space we will have shall be amazing, plus more room to hide my wool stash lol!! But i do hate time limits which is the thing that as panicked me more. So a lot on this Christmas, especially since we’ll be moving, need to find a better paid job, lots of knitting and designing for my book, Covering staff at my current job all December and plenty more. Yikes!!
Things always work out though in the end even if you don’t think they will at the time.
xx
Knitting like a demon!!
November 3, 2009 at 8:30 pm | Posted in Knitting | Leave a commentTags: 1st book, jumpers, mittens, patterns, Socks, Yarn
So I’ve been knitting a lot over the past couple off weeks putting
my bum in gear, keeping to my time management really well which as
shocked me. Normally i suck at time management but i noticed why,
Because it’s something i want to do for me, I’m enjoying it and it
doesn’t feel like work even though i now it is. So my book is still
on Schedule which makes me happy and not worried for a change.
It’s a Revelation.
So due to me having a few mistakes on sizing of my first pair of
socks for the book yes thats right the already mentioned ‘ I heart bees’
I was just over a week doing the first sock so instead of starting
the second sock i new i could finish a mitten in the rest of the second
week, so first mittens for the book have been started and now it’s a
fresh week i have started the second sock which i shall finish on
Sunday without wasting any of my time limits for each project.
And the first mitten looks lovely and they are so soft and warm.
The king Cole Baby alpaca is beautiful to work with although i think
I’ve eat most of it, due to fluffy cloud that surrounds me when
knitting lol!!
I’m also knitting up my partners jumper which is going ok apart from a
problem with one of the sleeves, strange as it sounds both of them
where done on the same needles with the same cast on and both have
the same gauge but ones more baggy than the other i just don’t get it
I’m wondering if the yarn isn’t exactly the same weight as each other
And as made one tighter as i did use a new ball for the second sleeve
, I’m now thinking of increasing a little but so it’s not too
noticeable.
Once his jumper is out of the way i shall be knitting the jumper
by ysolda teague ‘stripy’ i’m pretty excited as i am meeting her soon
at baa ram ewe in Leeds for there knit night, she’s going to be signing
copies of her new book whimsical knits 2.
I’m also quite tempted to knit up a child’s version of the i heart bees
sock as i think they would look cute being in a smaller size but i
shall have to see if i have enough yarn left for that.
I would like to say thanks to people for there support, it’s nice to
know i have it.
xx

October 23, 2009 at 9:05 pm | Posted in Knitting | Leave a commentTags: 1st book, Knitting, mittens, Noro, patterns, ravelry, Socks, wool shop, Yarn
So life is now my hell hole as i have caught a horrid cold, god knows where from, Its a migraine, sinus cold. my head feels like it’s in meltdown mode lol!!. But i won’t let it stop me yet.
I’ve just put up my new free mitten pattern on ravelry, i was supposed to be having it in yarn forward but they told me they liked it but not if they where going to use it so, i got fed up of waiting and have released it anyway. Its a nice simple pattern using noro kueryon sock yarn and cygnet wool rich 4 ply, it’s a nice pattern to use up left overs. So go check it out if you don’t have ravelry don’t worry i shall be posting it in my patterns page soon enough!
Other good news is i didn’t let my mishap with my new sock pattern get me down i altered the size and they now fit and i’ve caught up to where i was so they should be done soon hopefully *crossed fingers*.
And i bought more new yarn for my patterns for my book, Some orkney st magnus dk 50% wool 50% angora, king cole baby alpaca, wensleydale longwool and some cygnet 4ply yarns. Just to get me started i also purchased some 3.75mm 40cm knitpro circs for my mitten knitting and i love them. The est of my yarn choices are gonna be from online stores but these i purchased from baa ram ewe in headingley.
I hope you all cross your fingers and wish my cold away xx
On with the exciting news
October 20, 2009 at 7:36 pm | Posted in Knitting, Spinning | 1 CommentTags: 1st book, handspun, Knitting, mittens, patterns, Ravelry mitten exchange 0ct 2009, Socks, Yarn
First bit of exciting news is i finished my mittens for the exchange and shall be posting them in a few days hopefully. I was doing the End paper Mitts which are fingerless but i had the patience to sit back and draw out a chart for a full mitten and they look great on I’m really pleased with the result.
Second bit of news is I’ve spun some more fiber for my hand spun sock which mean i can carry on knitting them whoop!!
And the third but best news is I’m Starting My own book with my own patterns for you all to enjoy. I’m hoping to give myself the year to design and create the patterns and then self publish it. I’m giving myself a good target of next December. And I’ve already planned my time for each pattern and making the book. I’ve already starting some beautiful socks using the laughing yaffle sock yarn i showed you in my last post.
It’s all down to the people i love spurring me on. I just think I’m ready and have enough knowledge to start something great with what i love to do. When i got depression a few years back i thought my creative career was suddenly over but it’s not it’s just the beginning i needed.
I just hope My fans will get bigger and My patterns can go on.
Anyways i better get back to work peeps no time to be wasted

It’s so cute and i’ve been looking at it for a long time now and treated myself too it. I haven’t started knitting it just yet as i have a few things on the go, which i need to finish first but the yarn is already purchased and ready to go for when i do.
In the post yesterday i finally go my new skein of sock yarn from laughingyaffle.com, the colour way is Ruby Riot which is a selection of reds and purples it beautiful and also smell really nice like flower fragrance soap or something just as nice.
I picked up my spindle again yesterday and today to carry on spinning the rest of my hand spun sock yarn, i figured that i really wanna finished my socks since it’s nearly winter and the yarn is so warm on my little toes lol!!
My Colinette point five scarf as turned out nice
And i knitted up some of my hand spun chunky yarns to see what they look like for when i make them for a project
And i had some more of my moomin tattoo colour the photo’s really blurry though but i’ll show it anyways
Mitten Exchange joy
October 2, 2009 at 11:15 pm | Posted in General ( day to day stuff), Knitting | Leave a commentTags: dyes, Knitting, mittens, patterns, Ravelry mitten exchange 0ct 2009
I found out my info for my Ravelry mitten exchange and am greatly excited and have already started and I’m passed the ribbing on the cuff, so I’m full speed ahead into the colour work. I’ve decided to go with the end paper mitts on Ravelry but inside of them being fingerless I’m going to make it a full mitten. so it looks a bit different. the person I’m knitting for is from USA and she like autumn colours which is great i already had some yarn in mind ad went right out to by some the next day since i had my wage.
Just a sneaky peek for you i just hope my exchange buddy likes :/
I also dyed my hair and went dark so my hair looks a lot neater
more updates soon..
